SUSTAINABLE URBAN MOBILITY

Urban mobility is a subject of global interest. It’s human nature, especially for those who live in cities. For Brazil, this problem is very important as it affects income, the environment, productivity, mood and health. Due to this concern, since the beginning of the new millennium, governments have committed to the National Urban Mobility Policy. In 2012, the Mobility Law, nº 12,587/12, was approved, which recommends that all Brazilian cities with 20,000 inhabitants or more, develop an urban mobility plan for the municipality. FURB is committed to small and medium-sized municipalities and to region structured this specialization course, to help municipalities and small and medium-sized cities, to comply with the obligation set out in law 12,587/12, but with wisdom and discernment. The course is unprecedented in the country, due to its focus and approach to small and medium-sized cities. The course is divided into five modules: Urban Mobility Policy, Innovation and Sustainability, Mobility Project, Urban Mobility Governance and Technology in Transport Systems. Each module has three to four subjects. The teachers are experienced and come from different locations, bringing examples and experiences: Lisbon (Portugal) Barcelona (Spain), Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, UFSC – Florianópolis, UFSC – Joinville and FURB – Blumenau. Who are the clients of this course or who are the main users of the knowledge conveyed in the disciplines? They are professionals who work in institutions such as:

  • Associations, NGOs, Banks
  • Liberal professionals
  • Entrepreneurial professionals
  • Students graduating in the last year (or semester)

Integrate and coordinate inter-disciplinary teams made up of professionals whose function is to conceive, plan, design, implement products, processes and services used in the management of urban and conurbated regions, in the public and private sector; (Ex: coordinating teams made up of legislators, economists, lawyers, sociologists, anthropologists, geographers, engineers, architects, biologists, among others).

  • Analyze and evaluate problems and produce diagnostic syntheses for complex territorial-based systems, in the city and surrounding areas;
  • Evaluate the costs and benefits of project solutions, consider and manage conflicts that they may raise and support decision-making;
  • Work on projects of public or private interest integrated into society, in the municipality.
  • Contribute to the drafting of administrative regulations and standards that legally and technically support territorial plans and territory administration;
  • Design and operate geographic information systems;Desenvolver análise de custo e do ciclo de vida (LCCA);
  • Develop and evaluate the mobility project and its financing;
  • Develop and apply information and control technologies.
